Modern Supply Donates Lighting to the Labor of Love Project

4/25/2011

Modern Supply Company, a kitchen, bath and lighting distributor, donated lighting – indoor, outdoor and ceiling fans – to the Labor of Love home remodel project for Knoxville’s Helen Ashe, co-founder of The Love Kitchen. Helen and her twin sister Ellen Turner founded the Love Kitchen which provides meals, clothing and emergency food packages to homebound, homeless and unemployed persons. The volunteer project was a way of saying thank you for their valuable contribution to the area.

“Helen and Ellen truly care about people and have sacrificed so others may eat and receive help when they need it most,” comments Pace Robinson, Modern Supply CEO. “We’re honored to have been part of this project and are ready to help with Ellen’s home renovation. In the true Tennessee Volunteer spirit, the community has come together to return Helen and Ellen’s generosity.”

The Love Kitchen prepares over 2,000 meals weekly. More than eighty percent of these meals are delivered to homebound recipients. They operate from donations and local fund raising activities which have escalated the work of The Love Kitchen to national recognition. In February 2011, Helen and Ellen appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and Dani Johnson from ABC’s Secret Millionaire went undercover and volunteered at the Love Kitchen.
